Once again teaming up with Sally Vine and a great group of students. I was Assistant Lead at the London Marathon.  7 therapist working super hard for over 6 hours, working tirelessly to help ease those weary legs and achy shoulders. I was surprised with the number of familiar faces from last year!

BRENTWOOD HALF MARATHON 2016 – with SV Sports Therapy

Based in St James’ Park, London, I was part of a small team providing post marathon massages for everyone running on behalf of Phab Kids Charity.  It was a beautiful sunny day in London and the atmosphere was amazing, between us we treated about 114 runners, many of whom it was their first marathon, some suffering from cramping and other just wanted to freshen up before their journey home.  All of which were very happy to see us!!  Looking forward to seeing them again next year!

ESSEX 100 & DIVA ESSEX August 2014 – Action for Children Charity

I was in Chelmsford on this glorious sunny day as Clinical Lead for a team of ;  providing post ride massages for men and women cycling on behalf of Action for Children.  We were set up in a marquee right next to Chelmsford Cricket pitch which gave a beautiful backdrop for the cyclists. We had a great team and saw many first time and seasoned riders.  There were a lot of achy people but they sure appreciated their flush through!!

PRUDENTIAL RIDELONDON – SURREY 100 August 2014 – Pancreatic Cancer

Based in a hotel just by St James’ Park, London, I was Clinical Lead for a small team of Massage Therapist, providing post ride massages for everyone cycling on behalf of Pancreatic Cancer.  Alas the weather was terrible and so the course was cut short but that didn’t damper the spirits of all the riders we saw, we did go through a few extra towels however!!

LONDON MARATHON 2014 – Kidney Research UK Charity

Based not too far from The Mall, London, I was part of a small team of Athletes Angels providing post marathon massages for everyone running on behalf of Kidney Research UK.  Based in the basement of a hotel we didn’t get to see much of the action but between the 6 of us we saw….runners.  As always the emotion and the stories of people’s journeys touches your heart.  I admire every single one of them.

LONDON MARATHON 2013 – Phab Kids Charity

Based in St James’ Park, London, I was part of a small team providing post marathon massages for everyone running on behalf of Phab Kids Charity.  It was a beautiful sunny day in London and the atmosphere was amazing, between us we treated about 114 runners, many of whom it was their first marathon, some suffering from cramping and other just wanted to freshen up before their journey home.  All of which were very happy to see us!!  Looking forward to seeing them again next year!

LONDON 2012 OLYMPIC GAMES – Jonathan Betser Legacy Project

During the London 2012 Olympic Games I was fortunate enough to be part of an amazing project, providing 20 minute seated chair massages to the World’s media in return for a donation for charity. Collectively we provided over 3,600 treatments and raised over £30,000 for the Isabel Hospice.

This was a once in a life time opportunity to work at a home Games, meeting such interesting and inspirational people, not only my colleagues, but everyone who works for the radio stations, TV stations and newspapers from around the world.

Not only did I feel a sense of pride walking through the Olympic Park on my way to and from my shifts but the feedback we received from our clients enhanced the importance of regular massages for everyone suffering from stress, tiredness, poor posture and carrying heavy equipment as part of their daily lifestyles.

LONDON TRIATHLON

As part of a large team of Massage Therapists we provided pre and post event massages for the competitors of the London Triathlon, this multi-disciplined event incorporates the whole body so not only were we assisting to loosen tired legs but freshen and relax necks, arms and shoulders too!

THE BATH HALF MARATHON

Whilst training I took the opportunity to volunteer at the Bath Half Marathon, I had never been so close to so many athletes at an event before, it was an amazing vibrant atmosphere.  As part of a small team we were kept busy, providing pre and post event ‘flush’ through massages as well as assisting and enhancing stretching exercises.
